“EYEFUL was nanika? EYEFUL towa sugoi bijin,
matawa me ou meharu hodou ikasu yatsu no koto…”
“What is EYEFUL? It could mean an attractive
and beautiful lady, or it could describe one who watches
with great intensity…”
The EYEFUL Detective Agency is basically a school for
aspiring detectives. It is run by former businesswoman
and now Private Investigator for hire, Kishi Ryoko.
Her students are amateur detectives and “thrill
seekers” who come to the school wanting to get
more training in the area of sleuthing.
While most of their cases were more comical than dangerous,
they sometimes encountered somewhat dangerous situations.
Kyoko eventually left Japan to go abroad leaving Inspector
Sakurada to recruit the remaining students of EYEFUL
to form his own Investigation Agency – BIRDIE.
Members of EYEFUL
Principal - Kishi Ryoko: Her ancestors
included a retainer of the Tokugawa Shogunate as well
as a Japanese Spy during the Russo-Japan Wars. Ever
resourceful and full of ideas, Ryoko has managed numerous
Training Academies and businesses. She is a masterful
detective and is
Lecturer - Ibuki Yuji:
Was a former pupil of Ryoko’s and eventually became
her main confidant and assistant. Father was a soldier
in War World II and died while fighting in Okinawa.
Has a very sharp mind and is very fast with his hands.
Gets weak when it comes to women and can get clumsy
and mixed up in public situations.
Student – Oka Daisuke:
A failed writer, he used his resources to get into EYEFUL.
He is pure of heart and quick to forgive even those
criminals that he encounters.
Student – Harada Sanpei:
Used to be his school’s mascot. Graceful under
pressure. Frequently gets stuck with answering the phones
and cleaning up after Kyoko. Very much well liked by
his comrades-in-arms.
Student - Iguchi Mari:
A bit of a tomboy, she is nonetheless the daring of
the team. Very much curious about almost anything, she
loves playing detective most of all. She’s a bit
prim and proper but can also be very wild at times.
Minamijo Keitaro: Former Criminal
Investigations Officer for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police
Force. Resigned from the force after his fiancé
was kidnapped abroad. While he has a “tough guy”
demeanor, he is actually really weak with woman. Is
a single parent with a daughter.
Minamijo Keitaro: Inspector with the
Criminal Investigations Unit. Is a subordinate of Sakurada.
Is very much the loner and likes nothing better than
working alone on the field. Hates the fact that Ryoko’s
EYEFUL group is interfering in Police Affairs. Nickname
is “Dou Deka”.
Inspector Sakurada Seisaburo: Nicknamed
“Sakurada Mon No Oni Keibu” (Demon Inspector
of the Gates of Sakurada). The Tokyo Police Forces’
premier Inspector. Is a bit charmed with Ryoko and her
students and tolerates their investigations. Thinks
of the EYEFUL team as a great rivals. Shows great determination
and resolve when it comes to solving cases. Is the definition
of “hard boiled” detective right down to
his fedora hat and attire. |
